Why We Chose Hand-Printed Textiles for 15 Arras Home
Most of us encounter textiles every day without thinking much about how they were made. A placemat, a runner, a napkin.
We notice the colour, the pattern, the way it fits into a space. What we don't always see is the process behind it.
At 15 Arras, we chose hand-printed textiles because we were drawn to the human element they carry—small variations, visible craftsmanship, and the feeling that a piece has been made rather than manufactured.
More Than a Pattern

Hand-printing is exactly what it sounds like: fabric printed by hand rather than entirely by machine. Each piece passes through human hands during its creation. Every stage requires attention, care, and time. Because of this, no two pieces are ever completely identical. A motif may sit a little differently. The placement may vary slightly. One print may carry a subtle difference from the next.
The Beauty of Small Variations
Modern manufacturing has taught us to expect perfection.
Perfect symmetry.
Perfect alignment.
Perfect repetition.
Yet some of the things we treasure most in our homes are imperfect.
A handmade ceramic bowl.
A well-loved wooden table.
A handwritten recipe card passed through generations.
Their value often comes from the fact that they carry traces of the people behind them.
Hand-printed textiles belong to that same tradition. The small variations are what give them character. They create a sense of individuality that mass production cannot replicate.
A Slower Way of Making
One of the things we appreciate most about handmade textiles is that they require patience. The process cannot be rushed without losing something important. Every piece represents time, skill, and attention to detail. In many ways, this mirrors the values that inspired 15 Arras itself. We believe some of the best moments happen when we slow down.
A leisurely breakfast on a weekend morning.
A dinner shared with friends.
A conversation that lingers long after the meal is finished.
The objects we bring into our homes become part of those experiences. A table is rarely remembered because everything matched perfectly. What people remember is how the space felt.

Why It Matters to Us
When we started building 15 Arras, we knew we wanted to create pieces that felt personal.
Not trend-driven.
Not disposable.
Not designed to be replaced in a season.
We wanted pieces that people could use, enjoy, and return to again and again. Hand-printed textiles felt like a natural place to begin.
They reflect craftsmanship, individuality, and care—qualities that continue to matter no matter how quickly the world changes.
And perhaps most importantly, they remind us that beauty often lives in the details.
