The Evolution of 15 ARRAS

Rooted in Heritage

15 Arras began as a tribute to two things: a place and a process. The number 15 represents home—it is my parents' house number in Guwahati, Assam, where the brand was originally registered.

We started out as ARRAS, which was inspired by the English term for a rich, hand-woven tapestry traditionally used to conceal an alcove. For me, the word became synonymous with the craftsmanship of Northeast India: textiles that are intricate and culturally wealthy, yet often remain untapped and unexplored by the wider world.

Originally focused on Ahimsa (peace) silk, Arras has grown into a deeper exploration of Indian craft—honoring life, slow production, and the steady, human rhythm of the master artisan.

The Toronto Chapter

After years of setting up operations and building relationships with master artisan clusters across India, we are entering a new chapter. I am currently transitioning 15 Arras to its new home in Toronto. While our history is rooted in apparel, our Canadian launch this May will focus exclusively on Home Decor—bringing the rhythmic soul of block-printed textiles into modern living spaces.

Whether it is the rhythmic strike of a wooden block or the steady movement of a hand-loom, our pieces are repositories of human skill. We believe in sustaining artisan livelihoods and making space for ancient traditions within the modern home. By focusing on home textiles, we aim to help you build an Intentional Space—one where every object has a story and a soul.
